We spent the first two Thursdays of the month clearing forget-me-nots, thistles and re-growth gorse in and near the gully below the Weerona Trail.

On the Sunday we planted a mixture of flax lily, saggs, tussock grass and white flag irish, 100 in all, in Salvator Rosa Glen. An area was also seeded with wallaby grass. A very efficient team, we were finished before 4 pm!

Last month I talked about calling the area below the Weerona Trail the Weerona Gully. However, after that newsletter, one of our members looked into the issue. He found out that the area was name ‘Providence Valley Rivulet’ and gazetted in 1964. So no Weerona Gully!

Another member is looking into property boundaries next to the reserve. It is so good to have members doing their own investigation and helping us. I appreciate it very much.

A fire hazard reduction burn is scheduled soon, between the track coming up from Corby Ave. going into the reserve and the private land in Salvator Rd.
